Here is the story of my not so great comeback. And thanks for reading!
First off a little history. I am currently 50 years old so this goes back a few years. My first love was always bowling! I started bowling at a very young age, don't remember just how young I was but do remember they did not have bowling shoes small enough for my feet so i had to bowl in my socks! (lol) I didn't get real serious about bowling until the mid 80's when I made a friend at work that was a bowler.
Over the years my average went up on a steady pace. Along the way there was always some pool games either before or after on bowling nights. Flash forward to the mid 90's and I carried a combined 225 average of 4 different leagues a week. It was about this time I befriended a younger guy that was REALLY good at pool, but didn't know how to bowl. So over the course of a couple years I taught him how to bowl and he taught me how to shoot pool. He also taught me how to hustle pool and how to spot a hustler, and we hit the bars and bowling alleys playing for money. I never had the heart to hustle anyone in pool or bowling but we did pretty good on money games shooting pool. We had a bit of a falling out over his hustle schemes and I went out on my own for single's money games around different Toledo area bars. The worst loss I ever had was at Michigan Tavern one night. I was already playing someone for 20 bux and this guy I have never seen before walks in and puts quarters down on the table to play the winner of my game. Well I won that game so as this stranger is putting his quarters in and racking he asks me how much were playing for? Not ever seeing this guy shoot before I ask him what is he looking for? He says 100 bux a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO WAY! but I'll go 20. Ok, so its my table, my break. I potted two balls on break, a stripe and a solid so my choice and I took solids. I ran in five in a row and missed a cut on number 6, so now its his shot.
He rand out that whole table and I lost. I put 20 bux down and rack a new game. His table , his break. He breaks and runs out the table, lost another 20 bux. So i rack a new game. SAME THING!!! He breaks and runs out. I was down 60 bux with him and called it a night! Found out the next day he was the guy who had just won the Glass City Nine Ball Tourney! After that I did pretty good with a few games here and there, I remember more wins than loses. Then came a series of times out there was fights after fights...almost every time we went out there was fights breaking out. I was not involved in any of them mind you, but it was enough for my wife. She made me quite! So I just stuck to bowling and gave up on pool. I even gave away my que ! Some years went and I was burned out on bowling so i gave up on that also.
